Gago unhappy over City bid

Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago has hit out at the conduct of Premier League side Manchester City in their failed pursuit for his services on deadline day.

It is rumoured that City placed an offer on the table for Gago until they turned their attention to Kenya international McDonald Mariga.

However, his move was scuppered after they were refused a work permit and they returned to Madrid for Gago.

Despite their renewed interest, there was not enough time to conclude the deal and it has left both Gago and Real Madrid furious with their behaviour.

Speaking to radio station Onda Cero, agent Marcello Lombilla said: "City used us, this has never happened to me before.

"I don't want to talk about the figures that City were offering, because they approached Madrid without even knowing there wasn't physically enough time to put something together."

Real's sporting director, Jorge Valdano, was also unhappy with their conduct, adding: "They had nothing prepared, not even one document signed.

"They had not reached an agreement with the player and they would have had to have done everything in 40 minutes."
