Flamini to Eastlands talk cools

19 Jan 2010 - 12:48:04

AC Milan have rubbished reports claiming Manchester City have made an approach to sign midfielder Mathieu Flamini.

It had been claimed that City were interested in the France international as new manager Roberto Mancini looks to make his mark on the squad he inherited from predecessor Mark Hughes last month.

However, Milan claim there has been no discussions between themselves and the Eastlands club over the future of the 25-year-old.

"We have heard rumours regarding possible interest from Manchester City for Flamini," said the Italian club's sporting director Ariedo Braida.

"But for the time being, there has been no official offer, interest or talks between AC Milan and Manchester City. Flamini is an AC Milan player."

Flamini spent four years in the Premier League with Arsenal prior to joining Milan on a free transfer in 2008.

The three-times capped France international has found himself out of the first-team picture at the Rossoneri this season and has started just eight Serie A games.

Mancini has already signed one defensive midfielder during the current transfer window after raiding former club Internazionale to land another ex-Arsenal player in Patrick Vieira on a free transfer.
