Eriksson seeks quality buys

Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has vowed to move into the transfer market in January, but only if top-class players are available.
The former England head coach has masterminded City's rise towards the top of the Premier League, having already brought in a host of new players, but he is still on the lookout for further quality.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "I am told there is money available in January, but how much I don't know yet.
"Before I get into lists of players in whom we might be interested, I think it is vital to know what that spending figure will be.
"If we want to strengthen the squad then we have to be very clever about it. We must not buy average players.
"We have to buy top, top-class and for them to be better than we have already. That will cost a lot of money.
"We have to compete reputation-wise with the big four who can offer Champions League football, but I am sure that we are one of the teams that foreign players are looking at and thinking 'I would like to play there'."
City owner, Thaksin Shinawatra, added: "There will not be many new faces like there were in the summer, but, possibly, there will be a few.
"There is no doubt that I trust Sven to spend my money well and it is our duty to find it. His track record has been brilliant so far.
"There were those who questioned us when we appointed Sven as manager, but they are not doing so now. So far, he has proved to be a perfect choice."
