Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson was pleased to see Elano back to his best in the 1-0 FA Cup third round replay victory over West Ham United at Eastlands.
The 26-year-old Brazilian playmaker headed the only goal of the game to send City through to a meeting with Sheffield United in round four, having struggled to shake off injury problems in recent weeks.
Eriksson said: "Elano is a world-class player.
"We have others in the team as well, but he is someone who can do something special in the last third. Normally, he does it in every game.
"Since he came to the club, I have never seen him score with his head. I don't know how many goals he has scored in his career like that, but I cannot imagine it is many.
"It is good to see Elano coming back to normal because he has been down for a little while. We have not had the real Elano since October or November.
"The last two times he has come back from the national team he has been injured. Then he was a bit sick, so he has not been training regularly.
"Thankfully, he has trained well for a few weeks now and physically he is a lot better than he was a month ago."
