Elano has threatened to quit Manchester City if the club do not open new contract talks. The 27-year-old believes he can the best out of compatriot Robinhoat Eastlands, but doesn't want uncertainty over a new contract todistract him next season. 'I'm very interested in renewing (my contract),' he told Brazilian website Globoesporte.com. 'Let's beclear, the World Cup is coming and is the priority when I think of thefuture. 'I can't approach the World Cup still having to renew my contract. Idon't want any panic. I hope he (Hughes) can understand me. If hedoesn't want to renew, I will go to another team.' Elano appeared to have fallen out of favour at City this season buthas recently returned to form, scoring three in his last five matches. Robinho has similarly been transformed - hitting three in four - and Elano says their understanding is the key. The former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder says he confronted Hughesabout winning back his place after a frustrating spell on the bench. 'I tried to explain to the boss that I could play and help theteam,' said Elano. 'Now that I'm playing, the team has grown, andRobinho has evolved. 'I understand how to play with him, we have an understanding. Hestarted to score goals again from the moment I came back to play.'
