Draw doesn't move Mancini

15 Mar 2010 - 08:11:09

Roberto Mancini still believes his Manchester City side are in pole position to claim fourth place in the Premier League despite dropping points at Sunderland.

City salvaged a dramatic late point following Adam Johnson's stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.

They are now two points behind Tottenham in the fourth and final Champions League qualifying places but do have a game in hand on the London club.

"I am disappointed overall, but we have one game in hand and we must play Tottenham at home," explained Mancini at full-time.

"If we want to reach fourth spot it is important that we win this game.

"We started very slowly and we didn't play very well in the first half, but in the second half we had six, seven, eight chances to score a goal.

"But this is football - if you don't score you won't win.

"I was not angry at half-time, just frustrated that we conceded a goal, but I was happy with the second-half performance and we had some very good chances."
