City will splash cash on Eto'o
29 Jun 2009 - 07:51:32
Manchester City are reported to be willing to pay Samuel Eto'o a staggering £250,000 per week should they sign the striker from Barcelona.
Speaking over the weekend, Barca president Joan Laporta revealed that the ambitions Premier League club had made a 'stratospheric offer' to the player in a bid to lure the Cameroon international to Eastlands.
"Eto'o has a stratospheric offer from City which would convert him into the best paid player in the world," said the president of the European champions.
"It's starting to become clear that he has this monster offer. He wants to stay but an offer like this is very difficult to refuse."
It is now reported that Eto'o could be paid £250,000 per week should he decide to swap the Camp Nou for the City of Manchester Stadium this summer.
A fee of around 30million euros is expected to see the two clubs agree to do business for the 28-year-old frontman.
Eto'o instrumental in Barca winning the Spanish league and cup double last season before completing an historic treble by defeating Manchester United 2-0 in the Champions League Final.
