City tie up Negredo, Jovetic deals

Alvaro Negredo is looking forward to linking up with former Sevilla team-mate Jesus Navas after completing his move to Manchester City.

The Spaniard made the move to the Etihad on Friday along with Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic as Manuel Pellegrini strengthened his strikeforce ahead of the new season.

The attacking duo join winger Navas and midfielder Fernandinho as the new arrivals at City so far this summer as the club look to wrestle back the title they lost to Manchester United last season.

Negredo spent the last four seasons playing alongside Navas in Andalucia and is hopeful that the two men can combine successfully for City next term.

"Before the official confirmation of my transfer I phoned Jesus (Navas) and Javi Garcia," he told mcfc.co.uk. "They were very happy and I am too. To be team-mates again is great.

"Jesus is a great guy, he's a spectacular player. I hope I can keep scoring with his assists."

Negredo was fourth top scorer in Spain last season with 25 league goals, behind Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao.

The 27-year-old is also familiar with his new boss with the Chilean having spent the best part of the last decade managing in Spain and the Spain international believes he will fit in well with his manager.

"Pellegrini's football is very attacking, attractive, he loves to have ball possession, play passing game," he said.

"He has accomplished great things in Spain. So it will be a pleasure to work with him.
