City shelve deal for Mariga

Manchester City have been forced to abandon their attempt to sign McDonald Mariga after failing to secure a work permit for the Parma midfielder.
City had agreed a £7million fee with the Serie A club for the Kenya international.
However, Kenya's lowly world ranking - outside the current top 70 - has led to City's failure to secure a work permit at an appeal on Monday.
The 22-year-old would have become the first Kenyan to play in the Premier League had the appeal been successful.
Mariga joined Parma in 2007 from Swedish club Helsingborgs and has made more than 50 appearances in the Italian top-flight.
