Manchester City are reportedly lining up a club record £20million move for CKSA Moscow's Brazilian striker Jo.
The 21-year-old was initially linked with a move to Eastlands in January, but the Citizens were unable to agree a transfer fee with the Russian side.
However after upping their offer to a club record £20million, City will reportedly win the race to sign the international striker ahead of Valencia and several Italian clubs.
Jo made his name in Brazilian football with Corinthians before joining CSKA in 2006, where he has scored more than 30 goals in little over 50 appearances.
The news comes just days after City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson challenged owner Thaksin Shinawatra to back him in the transfer market in the summer.
"We need to invest more money on players - that is part of the project," said the Swede.
"If we do that, it will be fantastic as we all want success.
"Everyone is looking forward to that happening and I am sure we will be better next season."
