City's stance upsets Werder

05 December 2006 01:44
Werder Bremen's sports director Klaus Allofs has reacted coolly to Manchester City's reported interest in striker Ivan Klasnic. City boss Stuart Pearce revealed his interest in the 26-year-old at the weekend but Allofs is mystified by the comments as he has not been contacted by the Premiership side. City have struggled for goals all season, with Monday's goalless stalemate with Watford bringing their record to just 13 in 16 Premiership games this term. Pearce said at the weekend of Klasnic: "He's a quality front-man with a good goals record and, at 26, is at the right age." But Allofs responded by saying: "The simplest and fastest way, in order to state an interest, is to call me. "We must have a strong squad for the end of the season. Each player will be used there. We know that Ivan has great potential."
