Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan has made it clear that Shaun Wright-Phillips is not for sale, following press reports linking the diminutive winger with both
Liverpool and
Tottenham Hotspur.
The 22-year-old was the one bright spot for City in a disappointing campaign last term and the club have already opened talks with him about an extended contract.
Another of City's young stars, Joey Barton, is rumoured to be interesting Charlton Athletic, but Keegan believes none of the stories have any real substance.
"I don't think there is really an awful lot to say about these rumours," he told the club's official website.
"I have never had a conversation about these players leaving the club.
"I think Manchester City without Shaun Wright-Phillips is not even worth talking about."
Meanwhile, Keegan has revealed that he has made no significant progress in signing a replacement for Geert De Vlieger.
The Belgian goalkeeper has been ruled out for the season by an Achilles injury and Keegan is keen to bring in an experienced replacement to provide cover for David James.
He said: "I don't think that I will have a goalkeeper in for the Fulham game and so we will start with Kevin Ellegaard on the bench on Saturday.
"But before the deadline we need to get another goalkeeper in because with the rules they way they are it is just too big a gamble to take."
