    City reveal Tevez derby doubt

    11 Sep 2009 - 12:09:08

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez could miss next weekend's derby with former club Manchester United due to injury.

Tevez picked up a knee problem while away on international duty with Argentina this week and will play no part in Saturday's meeting with Arsenal at Eastlands.

The striker is also facing a race against time to be fit for the Old Trafford encounter with United on September 20, according to City boss Mark Hughes.

"The Argentine medical people said it would be two or three weeks," he said. "We think it might be less than that but he's a doubt for the derby next week.

"However, we'll do everything in our power to get him fit because, for obvious reasons, he'd love to play in that match."

Meanwhile, Hughes has also revealed that Robinho is a major doubt to face the Gunners as the Brazil star has an ankle problem which requires a scan.

He added: "We don't think there's a significant injury there but it's best to check to make sure there's no stress fracture.

"Once we get the results we can decide whether he plays (against Arsenal) or not."
