City deny interest in Drogba
20 Jul 2010 - 08:50:57
Manchester City have categorically denied making an approach to Chelsea for star striker Didier Drogba.
Drogba's agent recently suggested there had been contact between the two clubs and that the Ivory Coast international could be interested in a lucrative move to Eastlands.
City have already spent £60million this summer on World Cup trio David Silva, Yaya Toure and Jerome Boateng.
However, they will not be adding Drogba to their growing squad despite a flurry of reports suggesting City were preparing a £30million offer for 32-year-old hitman.
"We can categorically state we have no interest in signing Didier Drogba and any suggestion of an approach is entirely without foundation," director of communications Vicky Kloss told The Times.
However, City are believed to still be pursuing another striker in Internazionale's £25million rated teenager Mario Balotelli.
