City chase striker swoop

Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce believes his club are close to clinching the signing of a new striker.
Pearce's side have scored a mere 19 goals in 24 Premiership games this season, despite the presence of Bernardo Corradi, Paul Dickov, Georgios Samaras and Darius Vassell.
That has led Pearce to scour the market for a fresh face, with Spurs' Egyptian frontman Mido rumoured to be the Citizens' main target.
Pearce confirmed: "We are very hopeful of getting a striker and we are certainly a lot closer than we were this time last week.
"We are looking for something permanent and, at this moment in time, we are looking for more than one.
"The closer we get to the window, the more we feel teams will loosen up.
"Clubs have to start thinking about whether they are going to be stuck with certain players, or whether they need to bring some money in.
"Once you get an offer which is tight to the window shutting, you know that will be the last one. In some ways, it makes things a touch easier."
