City chairman tips Tevez to eclipse Rooney and Messi

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak has tipped Carlos Tevez to become the best player in the world.
In the wake of City's failure to secure Champions League status, Tevez has been tipped to leave Eastlands. A recent high-profile attack on manager Roberto Mancini has done little to suggest a harmonious relationship between the Blues highest-profile player and the man Khaldoon insists will remain in charge.
But rather than anticipating a departure, Khaldoon is looking for Tevez to use the platform provided by City to prove he is a player of the highest calibre. "Carlos Tevez has scored 29 goals and has been the heart and soul of this team," said Khaldoon in an exclusive post-season review with www.mcfc.co.uk. "He has been absolutely phenomenal."
He added: "I have no doubt he's going to be the best player in the world - it is just a matter of time."
Tevez will clearly have to adopt a less confrontational approach with Mancini, who has already stated he has no desire to keep an unhappy player.
A number of the City squad may be on the lookout for pastures new though.
Stephen Ireland is the first to admit there are "question marks" over his future and Shaun Wright-Phillips may belong to the same category given it has now been established that Mancini is going nowhere.
"Roberto has done an excellent job," said Khaldoon.
"I am very happy and Sheikh Mansour is delighted with the way he has organised the team.
"With a good pre-season to prepare for next season he (Mancini) is going to do a wonderful job for us next season and for many years."
