Manchester City are close to completing a deal to sign Rolando Bianchi after agreeing a fee with Reggina for the Italy Under-21 striker.
The 24-year-old netted 18 goals in Serie A last term and is set to become newly-installed manager Sven-Goran Eriksson's first signing since arriving at Eastlands.
Bianchi has been with Reggina for two seasons, having previously featured for Atalanta and Cagliari, and is expected to sign for the Citizens in a deal believed to be around the £8million mark.
"Manchester City has agreed a fee with Reggina for the transfer of Rolando Bianchi," confirmed a club statement.
"He will undergo a medical at City's Carrington training ground this afternoon (Thursday)."
Earlier, Reggina president Pasquale Foti confirmed the deal, telling gazzetta.it: "The negotiations are going forward and there is a willingness for an agreement.
"There are no problems at the moment and I think it will be shortly concluded."
