Citizens lose Given for run-in
25 Apr 2010 - 11:10:23
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted goalkeeper Shay Given will be out for the rest of the campaign after he dislocated his shoulder in the 0-0 draw at Arsenal on Saturday evening.
The Republic of Ireland ace suffered the problem after landing awkwardly tipping an Abou Diaby effort round the post in the second half.
He was clearly in considerable discomfort as the game was held up for some time, before leaving on a stretcher to be replaced by Gunnar Nielson and the Italian tactician is facing up to the fact he will their important top-four run-in.
Speaking to reporters, he said: "Shay's injury will be a problem. It's not good for us because Shay is a fantastic goalkeeper.
"He is important to us, but in football you can always get injured.
"Shay is in hospital, but we have ten days and must play three big games.
"Gunnar came on and did very well and everyone must be 200 per cent now."
