Citizens axe backroom staff

Manchester City have confirmed the departure of coach Ian Woan just 24 hours after parting company with former boss Stuart Pearce's number two Steve Wigley.
Pearce was axed at the beginning of the week following a disappointing Premiership campaign at Eastlands and the Citizens board has wasted no time in taking a broom to his backroom staff.
Wigley, who briefly managed Southampton in 2004, initially joined the club as reserve team coach before being promoted by Pearce to work with the first team.
"We thank Steve for his service and offer our best wishes for the future," confirmed a club spokesman.
Meanwhile, Woan, who was a former team-mate of Pearce's at Nottingham Forest, has been told he is free to leave despite only arriving at the club last month.
Elsewhere, former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra publicly confirmed his interest in completing a takeover of Manchester City during a Bangkok radio interview.
Shinawatra, who was ousted in a coup last September, refused to give details of his interest but said it would benefit Thailand if he completed a much-publicised purchase of the club.
