Manchester City's Mexican forward Nery Castillo is set to leave the club, with Roma and Real Betis battling it out for his signature.
The 24-year-old has struggled to make his mark with City since joining on a season-long loan deal in January, failing to score in nine appearances.
Now he is ready to head to either Italy or Spain, as long as an agreement can be reached with parent club, Shakhtar Donetsk.
One of Castillo's agents, Juan Carlos Padilla, said: "Decisions must be made according to sporting and not financial matters.
"You have to think about where you would feel better, where you could gain more confidence. The Betis offer is very important for Nery because he will be an important player there."
However, another of Castillo's representatives, Gianluca Marino, later claimed: "Roma have more than one target and Castillo could be one of those. The Spaniards are waiting, but Nery said he wants to play in Italy.
"He wants the Giallorossi because they are a prestigious side and because he thinks he would fit in well in Luciano Spalletti's formation."
