Bellamy up for Citizens fight

Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy insists that he will remain at Eastlands and fight for a first-team spot, following a summer of major recruitment by the Citizens.

City boss Mark Hughes has brought in Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor to bolster his attacking options, leaving January recruit Bellamy with a tough task ahead of him.

He told the Daily Mirror: "The new signings were the reason I joined the club. I knew this was going to happen.

"This is my last chance to have a right good end to my career.

"If I am fit, I am more than able to fight for my place and that is what I am concentrating on."

Thirty-year-old Wales international Bellamy scored five times in 11 appearances for City last term, before sustaining a knee injury which ended his campaign early.
