Bellamy hints at Wales U-turn
30 Oct 2009 - 08:59:55
Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy has cast doubt about his international future by suggesting that he could stop playing for Wales if Mark Hughes' side qualify for the Champions League.
Recently, Bellamy had insisted that he would not quit John Toshack's team despite the recent spate of retirements from the Wales side but now appears to have had a change of heart.
He said: "If we get to the Champions League - which is what we're aiming for, and I'm still a big part of that, I'll have to be realistic.
"Can I compete in the Champions League, Premier League, internationals?
"Every day is a battle for my place in the City side. Am I able to play 50 or 60 matches a season? Probably not.
"If my knee is sore and Wales have a friendly in Australia, it's not going to work out. I'd have to look at it."
