Bellamy completes City move
19 Jan 2009 - 19:15:27
Manchester City have completed the signing of striker Craig Bellamy for an undisclosed fee from West Ham United.
Bellamy, 29, has signed a four-and-a-half year contract at the City of Manchester Stadium after the two clubs agree a fee believed to be in the region of £14million.
The Wales striker was expected to leave the Hammers after being left out of side that defeated Fulham on Sunday when manager Gianfranco Zola claimed he 'was not in the right frame of mind'.
Bellamy, who joined West Ham for £7.5million last season and previously had spells at Norwich, Coventry, Newcastle, Celtic, Blackburn and Liverpool, had also been interesting Tottenham Hotspur.
However, once the Hammers made it clear that Bellamy would not be permitted to join their London rivals, he decided to join City, who are managed by his former Wales boss Mark Hughes.
"I am delighted to be working with Craig once more," Hughes told his club's official website.
"He is an outstanding player who provides us with qualities that we are slightly lacking.
"He has blistering pace, has bags of enthusiasm and has a superb attitude to training.
"He will be a great addition to the squad."
