Barcelona deny approach for Manchester City striker Robinho

City manager Hughes denied recent talk of a possible deal between the two teams for the Brazil star, saying he was "not in the process of taking outstanding players out of the team". Begiristain said: "Robinho is an interesting player who we asked about in the summer. But City would not talk about a transfer and since then we have not made any move." Robinho joined City in summer 2008 for £32.5 million from Barca's arch rivals Real Madrid but has made no secret of his admiration for the Spanish giants. "It's not right for us to talk about this hypothetical transfer or loan until there's something more concrete," Robinho said last week. "But of course I would like to play for Barcelona. Who wouldn't? We could really enjoy ourselves. "It would be a pleasure to play alongside Messi, Alves, Xavi, Iniesta, Ibrahimovic, everyone. They are a great team. I have played against them and I know all about their quality, but until now I have only been able to play with them on the PlayStation!" Robinho has only made three appearances for City this season prior to his injury at the end of August. And nearing a comeback, the Brazilian is desperate to help City push themselves up the Premier League table. "We're thinking big now. We have built a very strong side that has aspirations of winning the Premier League."
