Anxious City wait on Robinho
07 Sep 2009 - 12:40:36
Robinho is a doubt for Manchester City's Premier League clash with Arsenal this weekend after injuring his thigh in Brazil's 3-1 win against Argentina.
The 25-year-old has already been ruled out of his country's next World Cup game against Chile on Wednesday, although Brazil have already qualified for next summer's finals in South Africa.
Robinho, who has stayed in South America to receive treatment, is due to return to Manchester following the Chile game.
"Robinho is out of the game but will stay with us," Brazil's press officer Rodrigo Paiva confirmed.
Meanwhile, City have appointed Brian Kidd as the technical development manager at the club's academy.
Football administration officer Brian Marwood said of the appointment: "Brian has vast experience at both club and International level and will help maintain the excellent development programme we have in place at the academy.
"As a top-class coach he was much in demand when it became clear he wasn't going to stay at Portsmouth and we're delighted that Brian has chosen to come and work with us.
"I know he scored nearly 50 goals in his playing days at Maine Road and is greatly admired and respected amongst our fans."
