    Adebayor: I don't deserve ban

    14 Sep 2009 - 08:15:19

Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor doesn't believe he should be banned despite suggestions that his weekend behaviour could lead to anything up to a six-game suspension.

The Football Association has already promised to look into City's stormy 4-2 victory over Arsenal on Saturday after Adebayor chose to run the full length of the pitch to celebrate scoring in front of the travelling fans of his former club.

The Togo striker has regularly criticised the Gunners and their supporters after leaving for City in a £25million deal during the summer.

Meanwhile, Adebayor is also facing a probe after appearing to stamp on Arsenal's Robin van Persie during the same game.

His actions led to his former team-mate requiring treatment on a facial wound.

However, despite his 90 minutes in the spotlight, Adebayor does not believe he deserves a ban.

"I don't know what I have done wrong to get banned," he told The Sun.

"I have not heard the police or FA want to talk to me. The club have not said anything.

"I heard that a steward was injured and I regret that. I have apologised to Robin van Persie.

"It was silly to run up in front of the Arsenal fans. But these people have been insulting me all game.

"I didn't plan it, not at all. I didn't even know that I would score.

"The way things were going from the warm-up, at the end it came into my head."
