Young was injured by a challenge from Pablo Zabaleta during the second half of United's 2-1 loss.
After having an assessment, the injury is not as bad as it was first feared, but it's likely that he will miss the trip to the Potteries.
Sir Alex Ferguson said to reporters: "We've got six days until the Stoke game and, obviously, Ashley may be out.
"It may not be serious but I think he'll miss Sunday's game."
