Worry over Rooney as knee injury makes him a doubt for trip to Bolton

Wayne Rooney is facing a difficult battle to be fit for Saturday's game at Bolton after sitting out two days of training.

The Manchester United striker is struggling with a knee injury. Rooney completed 90 minutes of Sunday's 2-1 win over Liverpool but limped away in some pain after the match.

Now it is understood that the club's most important player has been told to sit out training this week.

England coach Fabio Capello is also said to be monitoring the situation closely as patella tendon injuries, the type Rooney is believed to have, can be highly troublesome.
