Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward has said that United have started the process of getting a new manager in when Alex Ferguson calls it a day.

Fergie has been at the helm at Old Trafford for 26 years, he has stated that there is a few more years left in him yet before he will be ready to stand aside, but Woodward has revealed that new possibilities are being considered.

There has been talk for some time that Jose Mourinho should be the man to take over, there have also been noises made about Pep Guardiola.

Woodward told reporters: "We have a view as to what type of manager we want and how and when we'll go about it.

"But it's in the drawer and long may it stay in the drawer."
