Manchester United have been urged to let winger Zaha out on loan by Dave Webb, who scouted him when he was 13.
Zaha hasn’t appeared in the Premier League at all for the reigning champions since his £15 million move from Crystal Palace. His only competitive match coming in a 2-0 win over Wigan in the Community Shield.
Dave Webb discovered Zaha back in 2006 when he was playing park football in South London while he was working as a scout for Palace.
Whilst speaking to BBC Sport, Webb said:
"He would benefit from playing more competitive football and a loan move would help with his development,"
"He is realistic and knows he is at a big club and has to compete and fight for his place. It's a lot different club to Crystal Palace. He has a good work ethic and will continue working hard in training.”
Dave Webb, now head of player recruitment at AFC Bournemouth thinks that Zaha will ultimately come good at Old Trafford but believes that a short term spell at another team in the league would benefit the English winger greatly.
However, the experienced scout doesn’t think that Zaha should be shipped out to just any Premier League side and commented on the recent speculation surrounding Zaha and Newcastle.
"Newcastle play a good style of football and Alan Pardew is a very good manager who likes to play with pace and power and Wilf would benefit from that.”
With roughly two more months until the winter transfer window opens, it looks like Zaha will have to bide his time on the bench before having the opportunity to move away. A number of clubs, as well as Newcastle, have had rumoured interest in taking Wilfried on loan including Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.
