Who will win the Premier League? The battle between City and United

26 March 2012 17:16
With the season drawing to a close, the Premier League title race is heating up as both sides of Manchester do battle for the biggest prize in English football.

Both sides currently sit atop the Premier League table, with 70 points each, United with a game in hand.

Having started the season so brilliantly, City have now hit a slump that has coincided with an excellent run of form from United.

Many people have already began to write the headlines.

City have caved under the pressure and United will storm through and claim the crown in typical United fashion?

United’s form has been excellent – eight wins and a draw in the last nine in the league, but City's downturn in form has been exaggerated.

People speak of the experience United have in winning league titles being key.

City have perhaps been trophy shy in recent times, but manager Roberto Mancini has an impressive managerial past.

He won the Italian Cup with a struggling Fiorentina, then did the same with Lazio and Inter (twice).

He also won three consecutive Serie A titles with Inter.

It is easy to forget that both clubs meet again in the league at the end of April.

The game could of course be the key moment in the season, with a winner take all situation a real possibility.

City currently have the bragging rights following the demolishion of United earlier in the campaign.

On paper Man United do seem to have the easier run-in out of the two teams, although this can sometimes be a teams downfall.
