Welbeck is tipped to be a part of the England squad for the Euro 2012 competition, but this sighting places a doubt over his head and gives United fans a worry for the final two games of the season.
Welbeck was caught by a nasty challenge from Nigel de Jong in the second half, which sparked a furious touchline row between Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini.
It is not known whether he sustained the injury in that incident.
