Welbeck doubtful for United game

Former Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck is doubtful as Arsenal go to Old Trafford on Sunday bidding to secure a top-three place in the Premier League and with it automatic qualification to the Champions League group stages.

Welbeck, who moved to the Emirates Stadium last August and scored the goal which saw the Gunners advance in the FA Cup at United's expense in March, has missed the last two matches with a knee injury.

"Danny Welbeck has a little possibility to be fit," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said on arsenal.com.

"Maybe Welbeck will be available but at the moment he looks short."

The Gunners have three games remaining and lead United, who have played a game more, by two points entering this weekend's fixtures.

Win at Old Trafford and Arsenal will consign United to a Champions League qualifying tie early next season and enter the group phase automatically themselves.

Wenger is still without Mikel Arteta (ankle), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (groin) and Mathieu Debuchy (hamstring), along with Abou Diaby (knee).

Aaron Ramsey is still to return to training following the leg injury he sustained against Hull.

"I don't think we have any big injuries," Wenger added.

"I don't know how long the others will be out for, it's difficult to say, but hopefully they will play again this season."
