We won't sue you! Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough deny they will take action against under-s

The North East's relegation-threatened sides have dismissed claims they could sue Manchester United if they field a weakened team against Hull City this weekend. Reports today suggested the three clubs had held discussions ahead of Sunday's final Barclays Premier League matches and were considering legal action against Sir Alex Ferguson if, as expected, he names an inexperienced team for the game at the KC Stadium. Hull are a point behind Sunderland, one ahead of third-bottom Newcastle and clear of Middlesbrough by three, with a stronger goal difference by four. They play the newly-crowned champions Manchester United on Sunday just three days before they defend the Champions League title against Barcelona in Rome. Middlesbrough face West Ham at Upton Park, Sunderland could go down if they lose to Chelsea and both Newcastle and Hull win, meaning all three of the North-East clubs have a vested interest in the side Ferguson sends out. But spokesmen at the three North East clubs say there is nothing in the claims they will take United to court. A Newcastle spokesman said: `There's no truth in it whatsoever.' Sunderland refused to comment on the story, but insisted there was no foundation to it, while a Boro spokesman said: `It's not true, it's nonsense.'
