Former England manager Steve McClaren believes there is no point trying to convince Wayne Rooney to calm down.[LNB]The Manchester United striker was given a two-match ban by the FA for swearing intothe camera against West Ham and his appeal has been rejected.[LNB]But McLaren insists that United would be worse off if Rooney didn't show his emotional side.[LNB] Showing his class: Rooney scored the only goal of the game against Chelsea[LNB]He said: 'Every player has his upsides and his downsides within a team and Wayne Rooney's no exception - but you know he can win you football matches. That's what everybody at Manchester United work towards. [LNB]'They've built him, they've grown him, they've matured him into a footballer who can win big football matches - as he proved against Chelsea - so you have to take the rough with the smooth.[LNB]Fearsome: Keane's aggression was one of his key attributes[LNB]'He's competitive, he's aggressive, he's a winner. You can't take that away from him. You can't change them too much. I remember once trying to do that with Roy Keane, saying, "Look, you are every season missing five or six games through suspension, calm down a little during the games." He did for six months and it was hopeless.[LNB]'[We said] "Get back to normal, we'll miss you for five or six games."[LNB]'WithRoy Keane we knew for five or six games he would be missing. Weaccepted that because we knew in the others he would win the games. [LNB]'It'ssimilar with Wayne Rooney. You've got to accept the rough with thesmooth. I've got to say from five years ago Wayne Rooney now, on andoff the field,  is maturing. He's still got a long way to go.'[LNB]McClaren also believes Sir Alex Ferguson is the best man to deal with Rooney.[LNB]He added: 'No-one is more of a disciplinarian than Ferguson. [LNB]'He hastaken Wayne Rooney over the last four, five years and developed himfrom a young player who was totally out of control into one who isgrowing and maturing into a great footballer. [LNB]'Occasionally you aregoing to get things where he steps over the mark.'[LNB]  Banned Wayne Rooney blasts FA after being told he will miss Man City showdownWayne Rooney to miss derby clash with City as FA refuse to slash his swearing banSmiles better!
