Wayne Rooney and wife Coleen set for multi-million pound court battle

A multi-million pound court hearing involving England striker Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen will not begin until tomorrow, officials said today. [LNB]The couple are being sued by management company the James Grant Group (JGG) for loss of earnings. [LNB]The case is listed for a three week hearing. Judge Hegarty QC, will spend today reading papers relating to the claim before the case is expected to begin in open court tomorrow. [LNB] Court battle: Wayne and Coleen Rooney[LNB]The Manchester United star split from JGG in 2008 when his agent, Paul Stretford, left the company. [LNB]Mr Stretford set up a new company and took his two star clients with him. JGG owns Proactive Sports Management, the company founded by Mr Stretford, which previously represented the young stars. [LNB]A dozen photographers and TV cameras were outside the Manchester Mercantile Court today for the scheduled start of the case but it is not yet known if or when either of the Rooneys will be called to give evidence. [LNB]Red hot form: Wayne Rooney[LNB]Yesterday, a spokesman for the couple said neither Proactive SportsManagement nor JGG had worked for the Rooneys for 15 months. [LNB]Asource close to Proactive Sports Management said today: 'The coveragein large parts of today's media over-simplifies the complex detail ofthis case. [LNB]'The commission monies claimed are for contractsconcluded when Mr Paul Stretford was a paid employee of Proactive. Thefull detail of the case will be presented before the court in thecoming days.
