Vidic points to United knack

Nemanja Vidic insists Manchester United will not curb their attacking instincts in a bid to shut down Barcelona in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League final. Barca have run riot in Spain this season, with Samuel Eto'o, Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi all scoring more than 20 goals in domestic football. But United pose plenty of attacking threat themselves through Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney and World Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo. Vidic has also pointed to their knack of scoring at crucial times, having come from behind to claim vital league wins against Aston Villa, Tottenham and Wigan recently. "When we need the goals we score the goals," said the Serbian defender. Habit "A few games we were one or two goals down and won the games. We have shown when we need to score the goals our attackers can. "We are not a team that is just going to go there and defend. We want to attack. "It is not going to be easy because they have good players, especially up front. "In the Spanish league they have shown some good football and scored many goals. "We respect them but we think more about us, how we are going to do and what we are going to do." Important Vidic has formed a commanding defensive partnership with Rio Ferdinand but the England star has been struggling with a calf problem for three weeks. Youngster Jonny Evans has deputised, although Vidic is hopeful Ferdinand will win his fitness race to feature at Rome's Stadio Olimpico. "I don't want to think that he will not play," said Vidic. "He is an important player for us and I think he will make it."
