Vidic backs Berbatov

Nemanja Vidic has come to the defence of team-mate Dimitar Berbatov after the Bulgarian missed a crucial penalty in their FA Cup semi-final with Everton.[LNB] Manchester United lost out in the Wembley shoot-out due to misses from Berbatov and Rio Ferdinand.[LNB]But it was Berbatov who was subjected to the most criticism after the match though as his spot-kick was struck tamely down the middle and easily saved by Tim Howard's feet.[LNB]Vidic believes the 28-year-old striker will hit back at the doubters with a match-winning performance against former club Tottenham on Saturday.[LNB]"Look, anyone can miss a penalty. And he was more angry about it than anyone," he told The Sun.[LNB]"It was hard for him. But when John Terry missed in Moscow last season, no one said he was a bad player because of it. Everyone knows he's a great one and it's the same with Dimitar. [LNB]Talented"I wouldn't be surprised if he got the winner against Tottenham on Saturday, because he's a very talented player with great qualities. [LNB]"Don't forget this is his first season here. It's always hard when you change clubs, especially going to one as big as United. Obviously, we know he can do much more but he has still got 13 goals and done really well so far." [LNB]Despite missing out on the FA Cup, Manchester United still have Premier League and UEFA Champions League silverware to aim for.[LNB]The Serbian centre-back insists that United are still hungry to add to the team's already sizeable trophy cabinet.[LNB]"We're all really hungry to win trophies. That's the great thing about the United players. We have the mentality that when we win one thing, we want the next, then the next and so on," he added.[LNB]
