Ruud van Nistelrooy has been confirmed as the latest big name to appear in Manchester United's legends game against Real Madrid at Old Trafford on June 2.

Van Nistelrooy intends to play for both teams in the fixture, which will give the Dutchman a chance to finally acknowledge the United fans who supported him during five years at the club given the abrupt manner of his exit. During his time at Old Trafford, the former striker scored an incredible 150 goals.

"I won trophies at Manchester United and Real Madrid," said Van Nistelrooy. "Playing at Old Trafford gave me so many unforgettable experiences, so to come back and play in front of the fans again makes this a really special event."
