The latest gossip and rumours from the newspapers and online:

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has spoken to senior players about manager LOUIS VAN GAAL'S management style after another poor result, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Dutchman is on the brink of the sack.

However, the Sun suggests that VAN GAAL will walk before he is pushed after he admitted that he "cannot fulfil" the expectations of United fans.

The Daily Star reports that Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Shakhtar Donetsk striker ALEX TEIXEIRA. Chelsea were thought to be targeting Teixeira but he has now agreed terms on a £38million deal.

Newcastle will turn their attention elsewhere after giving up hope of signing Tottenham's ANDROS TOWNSEND, according to Sky Sports. The Magpies are not willing to pay the £14million wanted by Spurs for the England international.

MARIO SUAREZ could be ready to join WATFORD, reports the Mirror. The Fiorentina midfielder previously turned down a chance to move to Vicarage Road, but after being told he has no future at the Serie A club he is reconsidering his options.
