Van der Sar will advise on replacement

Edwin van der Sar is expecting to have some input into who should replace him as Manchester United goalkeeper. Van der Sar will return to the Red Devils' line-up against Aston Villa at Old Trafford, having confirmed his intention to retire at the end of the season. New-boy Anders Lindegaard caught the eye on his debut at Southampton on Saturday and Tomasz Kuszczak did well during the veteran Dutchman's three-game absence at the start of the year. However, bigger names are also being linked with the Red Devils, including Van der Sar's fellow countryman Maarten Stekelenburg, who inherited the Dutch international spot following the United keeper's retirement following Euro 2008. "I think the manager will talk to me," he said. "Obviously you have some conversations about yourself or about other things. "But I presume they have done some homework already because I don't think this is a big shock. I would expect them to have a few possibilities on their radar."
