// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Edwin Van der Sar is solely focusing on regaining full fitness and moving all thoughts of his future to the back of his mind.[LNB] The Manchester United goalkeeper made his first appearance of the season on Saturday following a hand injury and helped the champions move to the top of the table with a 2-1 home win over Bolton.[LNB]The 38-year-old knows that time is not on his side but with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign many expect the Dutchman to be offered another one-year extension.[LNB]The fact that understudy Ben Foster did his case for the number one jersey no favours while Van der Sar was absent has only intensified reports that the former Juventus shot-stopper will be offered a new deal in December.[LNB]"My aim has been to get fit," he said.[LNB]"I had an operation on my fingers in the summer and it took a while before I could even catch a ball again.[LNB]"The moment you are able to get out and start training again is like a release. That is the thing you like to do most.[LNB]"It has been hard not having that, which is why I am not looking any further ahead than playing and enjoying myself."[LNB]BackingVan der Sar also backed Rio Ferdinand to rediscover his best form after a number of high profile mistakes for both club and country this term.[LNB]"Rio is a strong character and an excellent player," he added.[LNB]"Of course sometimes you go through a bad patch. But I know for sure it won't affect him. [LNB]"As a defensive unit we have to make sure we get the understanding back from last year. Then we will be solid at the back again."[LNB]Although the Red Devils endured a nervy final 10 minutes at Old Trafford against Bolton Van der Sar knew the importance of three points with title rivals Chelsea and Liverpool both losing.[LNB]"It is important to get three points when the other teams drop them. It makes a difference," he stated.[LNB]"It is going to be tough for everyone this season. We didn't play well against Sunderland a couple of weeks ago but at least we managed to get a draw.[LNB]"All we can do is keep going. We are top now and we have to try to make the gap as big as possible."[LNB]
