Van der Sar back for reserves

Edwin van der Sar will return from injury for Manchester United's reserves against Everton on Tuesday. The Red Devils goalkeeper has been out ever since breaking two bones in his left hand in a pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich at the end of July. Ben Foster has stepped in for the Dutchman with mixed results and the 38-year-old should reclaim his place as first choice once he has proved his fitness. Foster blundered in the 4-3 Manchester derby victory over City and was also at fault for Sunderland's second goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw. Tomasz Kuszczak was preferred for the UEFA Champions League encounter against Wolfsburg, while Foster was not included in Fabio Capello's latest England squad. Dutch veteran Van der Sar could even be back between the sticks immediately after the international break when United welcome Bolton to Old Trafford. Tuesday's second string game will take place at the Stobart Stadium in Widnes.
