Utd team of the century competition
MEN Sport together with our betting partner Fred Done has launched a top competition with brilliant prizes to coincide with Old Trafford's Centenary celebrations. Columnist Paul Hince has taken a look back at the United greats from The Busby Babes, the triple winners to the current superstars. Now it is your chance to turn manager and pick your own team of the centenary which, in a nod to the younger generation, will play in a 4-4-2 formation. To be in with a chance of winning two United season tickets, a VIP trip for two to the Carling Cup final, a 37inch lcd TV and a signed Reds shirt read Paul's articles (via the links below) and then choose one goalkeeper, two full backs, two centre backs, two midfielders, two wingers and two forwards from all those mentioned by Paul. Then just fill in the official entry form that is on the back of the Dream Factory Old Trafford supplement and send it to sports editor Peter Spencer at 1 Scott Place, Manchester M3 3RN. You can also enter by email to the sportscomps@men-news.co.uk but you must make clear which position your selections play in. And remember, they must have been mentioned by Paul. The judging panel includes bookie Fred, who is a great Duncan Edwards fan, so that's a clue! He'll be joined by Denis Irwin and Lou Macari to pick the Team of the Century. The deadline for entries will be noon on Friday, Feb 12 with the winners announced on the day of the 100th anniversary of the ground opening Feb 19.
