Argentinian side Banfield claim they are awaiting contact from Manchester United regarding a possible interest in midfielder Nicolas Bertolo.[LNB] The 23-year-old offensive midfielder is understood to have caught the eye of the English, European and world champions as they plan for summer reinforcements.[LNB]United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has a South American scouting network and it is reported that representatives of the club will be at Banfield's meeting with Rosario Central this weekend.[LNB]Lazio failed in an attempt to sign Bertolo - who is valued at around £2million - on loan in January, and Banfield's sporting director Hector Clide has now declared that he is expecting an approach from United.[LNB]"I am aware of the subject and it is not unusual because the kid has had a good year," Clide told TyC Sports.[LNB]"We expect news about this subject."[LNB]Bertolo is half owned by Banfield, while former club Boca Juniors also hold a 50 per cent share of the player.[LNB]
