UNITED'S latest batch of young hopefuls took their first steps along the road to what they hope will be FA Youth Cup glory with a comfortable third round win at Altrincham. Paul Pogba rocked the visitors by heading home the opening goal from Nick Ajose's free-kick inside the first minute. It was the perfect start for Paul McGuinness's charges and when Ajose cracked home the second goal on the half hour after snapping up a loose ball the Reds' passage to the last 32 was assured. Birmingham could have put themselves back in the game in the 53rd minute when they were awarded a penalty, but United keeper Conor Devlin pulled off a brilliant save from Jake Jervis's spot-kick. UNITED: Devlin, Fornasier, McGinty, Thorpe (Massacci 21), Wootton, Tunnicliffe, Morrison, Pogba, W Keane, Petrucci, Ajose. Not used: Cole, Johnstone, Lingard, Cofie. Which of these United youngsters do you expect to make it? Have your say.
