United to play CSKA on the Moscow pitch that still gives England shivers

Manchester United's England players may feel a familiar feeling of dread when they travel to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League next month. United's group game fixture on October 21 will be played at 5.30pm on the infamous artificial pitch at Luzhniki Stadium. And Wayne Rooney in particular will remember all too well his last visit there - when England, who also kicked off early - lost 2-1 to Russia in a Euro 2008 qualifier in October 2007. Rooney gave England an early lead but then gave away a penalty in a match which ultimately led to his side failing to qualify for the 2008 European Championships. While all Champions League games are usually played at 7.45pm, the kick-off time has been moved to accommodate Russian television.
