United set to go toe-to-toe with Chelsea for exciting Brazilian U21 prospect

Manchester United will look to test Lazio's resolve as they prepare a big money bid for midfield prospect Felipe Anderson.

Anderson recently signed a new five-year contract with Serie A side Lazio and his representatives have said he'll be playing in Rome next season.

“It’s a good sign that important clubs are coming to see him, as it means that he is doing very well,” Stefano Castagna told Radiosei.

“He has just signed a new deal and is very happy in Rome.

“I see no particular problem in keeping him, even without Champions League qualification. Playing in that tournament would be ideal, but the Europa League is good too.”

But the Daily Star report that Manchester United are set to launch a £30million bid for the 22-year-old after positive reports from the clubs scouts, who have been 'hugely impressed' with the attacking midfielder.

It's thought Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal sees Felipe Anderson as the perfect addition to his United side, giving the Dutchman options out wide and in forward areas.

Brazilian U21 Anderson joined Lazio from Santos FC in 2013 and has become an integral part of the Lazio set up, scoring 10 goals in 45 games for the side which clinched Champions League football in the last day of the season in Italy.

Current Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been linked with a move to Lazio in recent days after stating he'll 'assess the situation' at Old Trafford, leading to suggestions a swap deal between the clubs could be possible.

This could give United the edge if a deal for Anderson were to materialise, with Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester City all keeping and eye on the players progress.
