The 25-year-old German forward looks to be heading for the exit at Bayern Munich if reports are to be believed with Manchester United waiting in the wings.

The rumour first surfaced after images of a touchline disagreement between Muller and Pep were broadcast when the forward was substituted with ten minutes left to play in their heavy 3-0 defeat to Barcelona.

Manchester United have been interested in the striker for some time with two previous attempts to sign the player being rebuffed inside the past year says the report with van Gaal looking to sanction a £40million bid upon his arrival.

Louis van Gaal gave Muller his debut during his time in charge of Bayern so will be familiar with the player and clearly can see him fitting into his vision at Old Trafford. United will be hoping that prospect of linking-up again with van Gaal once more on the Old Trafford project with qualification for the Champions League now a formality will be a big draw.

Quite how serious the ‘bust-up’ was between Muller and Pep remains to be seen and with Muller having signed a new contract it would be difficult if not impossible to lure the player away. Muller has scored 20 goals in all competitions so far this term as well as registering a number of assists.
