United plotting bold move for France star (not Pogba)

It seems that Manchester United will not be resting on their laurels with the bid for Pogba looking to be in the bag, Bailly, Mkhitaryan ready to impress and let's not forget Zlatan set to star in a season long cameo. Business at Manchester United is booming and cash is flowing in all directions so what are the chances of squeezing another £50-£75million out of that war chest?

According to France Football (via topmercato.com) Jose Mourinho has switched focus from Pogba to the midfield wizardry of Dimitri Payet. The Old Trafford club have allegedly enquired as to the availability of the France star who so mesmerized audiences with his displays in Euro 2016. United are looking at a fee of around £50million for the 29-year-old which is likely to be rejected by the club set to play their first season at the Olympic Stadium.

It is understood that bids of less than £75million will not be entertained as the Hammers seek to keep hold of their talisman, fresh from scoring three goals for the Euro 2016 finalists.

Such fees for aging stars seem increasingly common with Gonzalo Higuain signing for Juventus for £75million and he is 29 in December. United are unlikely to go to that figure with the more physical nature of the Premier League making age more of a factor perhaps than in Serie A.

Payet joined West Ham in 2015 from Marseille for £10.7million where he has had a sensational season, winning admirers and a place in the France Euro 2016 squad. The midfielder has made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals for the Hammers.
